Without a flywheel, you would notice every single movement made by your engine as it runs. The transmission and clutch would also suffer more wear and would probably break. Solid flywheels and DMFs both work with the spring clutch plate to store torque from your engine. This helps prevent your engine from stalling, while also making it easier to keep your engine at a constant RPM. The benefit of a solid flywheel is that is doesn’t wear out and it’s likely that you’ll never need to replace it. This also prevents damage to your clutch and gearbox. If you have a standard road car, we recommend using a DMF for a smoother ride. If you use your car for racing or high-performance driving, we advise swapping your DMF for a solid flywheel.
