Lambda Sensors

Lambda sensors measure the air-fuel ratio in exhaust gases. This allows your catalytic converter to work at the right tolerances. Want to save money on fuel and prevent costly repairs? Replace a faulty lambda sensor for less at CarParts4Less.co.uk.

Lambda sensors (or ‘oxygen sensors’) usually bolt on to the exhaust manifold. They are a small part of your vehicle, but they play a vital role in maintaining a car’s fuel efficiency. Your catalytic converter takes in harmful gases and converts them to less toxic ones. To achieve this, it must work within tight tolerances. When the air-fuel ratio in your exhaust reaches harmful levels, the lambda sensor sends a signal to the control unit (ECU). The ECU then adds more fuel or air to maintain the appropriate levels and boost performance. The average lifespan of a lambda sensor is 100,000 miles. Thankfully, they are reasonably cheap to buy. This is all the more reason to replace yours at the first sign of trouble. For the best lambda sensor for your car at a great price, fill in your details using the parts-finder tool above.
