Drive Belts are used to mechanically link two or more rotating shafts, typically transmitting rotational power from the crankshaft to ancillaries such as the alternator, power steering and air conditioning units. Due to frictional forces, heat accumulation deteriorates the drive belt over time and can sometimes be diagnosed as a "squealing" noise from the engine compartment.
